How do you set yourself up for success everyday?
May 15, 2024
I think it’s safe to say that we all have a morning routine! Think about yours for a moment.
Is your morning routine setting you up for success each day? 🌞
I’ve often listened to really successful people talk about their morning routines and as I think about this, I laugh. 😆 Why are we so interested in how other people start their day? Do I think that if I do exactly what they do each morning, I will suddenly be gifted with their level of success?
Sometimes these “successful people” have morning routines that don’t work for us and our lives.
For instance, for several years, I heard successful people say that they wake up very early to start their days. Sometimes as early as 4 or 4:30 am. Anytime I heard this, I would cringe. There is no way that I would create a daily routine to wake up this early. Instead, when I heard this advice, I looked to see what I would be willing to do based on what I wanted to create in my life. More on that in a minute. I also heard habits like making my bed every morning, jumping on a rebounder (trampoline), sitting in a sauna, and so much more. And, while I think all of these routines are AMAZING and beneficial, I also believe that whatever routine you choose to create must work for your goals, lifestyle, personality, and family to create the success you want from it.
So let’s look together: What are the goals you want to accomplish right now? 🎯
What habits could you create each morning that would help you accomplish those goals?
Back when I was looking into my morning routine (which was several years ago), I dove deep into what routine would best support me performing at my best each day.
Here’s what I created. Given that I believe that mindset is everything and that what we say to ourselves each day impacts what’s possible for us, I made my number one commitment a meditation practice. I would start each morning by connecting to the source and creating a positive mindset that I could carry through each day.
I am also committed to living a healthy, beautiful, long life where I’m dancing in my 90s. Therefore, I needed to incorporate self-care and exercise into each morning to nurture my body and work on my skin so I can look younger. We all have priorities!! And finally, having breakfast with my daughter each morning is a top priority for me.
From there, I looked to see how I would feel if I started each morning with these routines and commitments. It felt SO GOOD to me. 😄
Next, I looked to see how early I would need to wake up to accomplish these goals. From there, I created a routine. One that worked for my schedule, lifestyle, and commitments. And, because I created mine for me, it empowers me to be the best I can be.
I still like to listen to what other people do in the morning, and you can too, but remember to not compare yourself to others or think that the only way to success is by incorporating what someone else does. If you do this, you are setting yourself up to fail. To be the BEST YOU possible in life, you must BE FULLY YOU! You cannot be someone else, and no one can be you better than you.
So, create the morning routine that works for you and, most importantly, have it fulfill your commitments in life and BE CONSISTENT every day! You are off to living YOUR BEST LIFE!!!
